Eve Arnold the Grand Dame of photo journalism has died a week ago in London. She was the first American woman to join the prestigious Magnum Photo Agency,she will be mostly remembered for her memorable portraits of  all the First Ladies,Malcom X,famous actresses like Liz Taylor and Joan Crawford,..but her signature and most accomplished works are the candid portraits of Marilyn Monroe up until the star last movie  “The Misfits” in 1961.

Our favorite girl from The Netherlands,got her first gig with Nicolas Ghesquiere as an exclusive for his Spring Balenciaga Show,..remember those hats?? it must have been love at first sight because Laura also got signed to appear in the Spring Balenciaga campaign shot by Meisel,with another  (more estabilished) girl, the Danish Juliane Gruner. We can totally see Laura walk for Marni,Dries,Lanvin…and who knows,maybe Prada in the upcoming season!

If Monsieur Des Esseintes, the reclusive eccentric of the famous novel “Against the Grain” could pick his wardrobe we are pretty sure that he would buy the entire Spring Collection of Italian born Designer Dominique Masullo. The lounginess aspect of the clothes mixed with the opulence of the fabric and the handmade detail would be the perfet match for such an aesthete. Dominique who has studied in Antwerp and worked with Belgian designers such as Dries Van Noten, Veronique Braquinho, and Bernard Willhelm, creates beautiful clothes. His starting point is the “easiness” of a Man’s Pajamas and brings them to life in the form of wearable outerwear. “Change of Season” Muse Sabrina (Querci), during a recent buying trip to Antwerp met him by chance at a popular hangout. After hearing about his collection she got immediately smitten with him & his talent. From this unexpected encounter a great collaboration has been forged between the two. “I always wanted to be a sculptor,for me working with fabric or marble is exactly the same thing” This quote explain really well the work of one of the last true genius of Couture : Mme Gres. The  BOURDELLE Museum in Paris is dedicating her  a show (until the end of July) with more than 80 pieces some from the Galliera Museum some from private Collectors. A well deserved tribute to this  underrated artist and her signature styles,drapery and bias cut mostly in unpatterned monochrome colored jersey .So many contemporary designers such as Alaia, Rei Kawakubo ,Sophia Kokosalaki, Haider Hackermann have been inspired by her neoclassical style. We just discovered on Italian Elle, gorgeous pictures of another enigmatic character,the actress Tilda Swinton in a pictorial hommage dedicated to the genious of Mme Gres.

We noticed this girl at the London Fashion Week,..then she took Milan and Paris by Storm! Finally we have a  new Italian beauty,..no offense to Mariacarla or Bianca. Fresh from her victory at the Elite Model  Look of 2010,and some important editorials in Italian Vogue with Paolo Roversi, Caterina caught the attention of Miuccia Prada that chose her  to walk in her Fall “60′s inspired “collection,and the in the Miu Miu in Paris.Big shows had followed such as Dries Van Noten ,where she opened it,YSL, Chanel,Givenchy, Marni and as we mentioned before in the fabulous “postwar romantic” Miu Miu show. Young,Classic with an unusual twist ,..we will see much more of Caterina in seasons to come,..stay tuned!
