What is iMessage?
iMessage is a messaging app developed by Apple Inc. It was announced by Scott Forstall at the WWDC keynote in 2011 and released with iOS 5 in October of that year. The app allows users to send messages between iOS devices and Macs running OS X Mountain Lion or later. In early 2012, Apple announced that a new Messages app would be included in OS X Mountain Lion which was released on July 25, 2012. iMessage is a free service that uses the data plans of its users. It can be used over Wi-Fi or cellular data networks.
iMessage offers features such as read receipts, delivery confirmation, and group messaging. It also allows users to send images, video, and other media files. In addition, users can set up message alerts to notify them when a new message arrives. iMessage is integrated with the Messages app on iOS devices and the Mac.
iMessage has been criticized for its lack of end-to-end encryption, which means that messages are not automatically encrypted when they are sent. This means that messages could be intercepted and read by third parties. However, Apple has said that it is working on adding end-to-end encryption to iMessage in a future update.
