Charmeuse is a luxurious, lightweight fabric woven with a satin weave, where the warp threads cross over three or more of the backing (weft) threads. The front of the fabric has a shiny, lustrous finish, while the back has a dull finish. Silk charmeuse is exceptionally soft and drapes beautifully, making it a favorite for high-end evening wear, bridal gowns, and lingerie. Though traditionally made from silk, charmeuse is also produced using rayon, polyester, and other synthetic fibers, offering a more affordable option while maintaining a similar feel and appearance. The fabric’s delicate nature requires careful handling, especially in sewing and garment care.
